Establishing and Enhancing Public Access

The trust is furthering its work on angler access to the upper Clutha River. Unformed Legal Roads (also refered to as Paper Roads) are the critcal tool for establishing a network of secure public access.

A Masters study on the Lindis River adds to our understanding of the ecological processes which result from over allocation of water abstraction from a river.

Hands off the Nevis!

The application by New Zealand and Otago Fish and Game Councils to amend the Water Conservation Order for the Kawarau River to protect the Nevis River from Damming was successful.

Great (Southern) Crested Grebe

 The George Chance Memorial Census of Great Crested Grebe in Central Otago was carried out by members of the Otago Branch of the Ornithological Society of NZ Inc. in February 2009.

The results show that the numbers of these birds are increasing on the lakes of Central Otago. Lake Dunstan in particular has played a key role in the sustainability of this wonderful bird.

It is crucial that you clean your fishing and hunting gear and any other items that come in contact with any waterway.

Don't be the one to spread Didymo to an uninfected waterway!
