Great (Southern) Crested Grebe
The George Chance Memorial Census of Great Crested Grebe in Central Otago was carried out by members of the Otago Branch of the Ornithological Society of NZ Inc. in February 2009.
The results show that the numbers of these birds are increasing on the lakes of Central Otago. Lake Dunstan in particular has played a key role in the sustainability of this wonderful bird.
